FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW EARLY SHOULD MY PUPPY'S FIRST GROOMING APPOINTMENT BE?

Schedule your puppy's first grooming session around three months old, after their initial vaccinations. This initial appointment is crucial for setting the tone for future groomer visits. Introduce your puppy to grooming in a safe and loving atmosphere to help them become comfortable and unafraid during future visits. Fur-Ever-Natural & Fresh Mobile Grooming specializes in first grooming for puppies, ensuring a positive experience and reliable care for your furry friend. Your loyal companion will be well taken care of with us.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE MY DOG GROOMED?

Grooming frequency for dogs varies by breed. Longer hair breeds like Standard Poodles need more grooming than shorter hair breeds like Chihuahuas. Typically, short-coated dogs should be groomed every 6-8 weeks, while long-coated dogs need grooming every 4-6 weeks. Individual factors like coat issues and haircut complexity can alter this schedule. If needed, dogs might require grooming 1-3 times a month for more frequent upkeep.

WHAT VACCINATIONS DO YOU REQUIRE FOR GROOMING APPOINTMENTS?

In order to ensure the good health of your canine companion, it is important that they receive all necessary core vaccinations. If your dog is under 16 weeks of age, it will require Bordetella and DHPP vaccinations, which protect against distemper, parvovirus, parainfluenza, and adenovirus. Dogs over 16 weeks of age, in addition to Bordetella and DHPP, must receive the rabies vaccination and all necessary boosters. This will help to keep your furry friend in the best possible condition.

HOW CAN I HELP KEEP MY DOG'S COAT HEALTHY BETWEEN GROOMING APPOINTMENTS?

Maintaining your dog's coat can be challenging, especially if their hair is long and thin. Tangles and mats can develop quickly, which can be uncomfortable for your furry friend; to prevent this, make brushing your dog a regular habit. We recommend brushing your dog just before giving them a bath to keep their coat in top shape. Neglecting to do so can make existing tangles or mats worse and more difficult to remove. Eventually, the only solution may be to shave or cut them out, which can be a stressful experience for your dog. If your dog has severe mats or tangles, please don't hesitate to give us a call. We can discuss the best strategy to take and help keep your furry friend happy and healthy.
